POMEROY-PELOSI ALLIANCE
Rest assured, if Representative Earl Pomeroy decides to retire from public service, he’ll have a promising career in stand up. After reversing his stance on the public option, he’s now claiming that a government takeover of the healthcare industry will actually promote competition! Competition from who? The government! Hi friends, I’m Scott Hennen, Chairman of the Common Sense Club sounding off. In a minute, let them eat cake: Pomeroy ignores the will of North Dakotans in favor of a Pelosi mandate, in today’s Common Sense Commentary!
Maybe it was just a lack of coverage, or maybe it’s because Pomeroy never actually attended a real townhall meeting over the summer (sorry, phony teleconferences don’t count). For whatever reason, Pomeroy simply didn’t get the message, so allow me to speak on your behalf and make this clear to him right now: North Dakotans do not support healthcare reform with a public option. It seemed that Pomeroy acknowledged this a few weeks ago, but has since flip-flopped on his position. He defended himself on a liberal radio program last Friday, saying this:
LISTEN
“There’s going to be a public option…offering a clear alternative to Blue Cross Blue Shield. It’s going to be giving consumers a kind of choice they haven’t had…we’re going to have a public alternative that’s competition in the marketplace, and I think that’s going to be a good thing.”
More competition? How cynical can you get? Look, as evil and intimidating as this administration wants you to believe, insurance providers simply can’t contend with the government. It’s Economics 101: competition within the free market gives rise to lower prices and improved services. This is the basic function of a capitalist system. Insurance companies can’t compete with the government because the government establishes all the rules, and they’ll stack the deck to impose their influence on every level, by exacting standards on private insurers. The current proposal Pomeroy supports will destroy the insurance industry…that’s the intention. If anyone doubts this, ask yourself “whose proposing it?” And by the way, when was the last time that a Nancy Pelosi bill represented what North Dakotans want?

Pomeroy claimed over and over that the bill being considered at the time ws not good for ND because it would pay at Medicare reimburseent rates wich were considerably less in ND. I’m have not heard that they fixed that.
I would like to say…no to national health care plan
I would like to say…All of the health care reform bills that have been coming from our senate and congress are bills that will cause our health care to decline and cost more money. Tell me one government program that doesn’t cost a lot more than we were originally told and way more than if it was taken care of by the greedy free market private sector? The Capitalist, free market private sector always produces a better product at less cost. Why are we just standing by watching our current government dismantle the American Way, Capitalism????
North Dakotans are a conservative people, we don’t go crazy with costly social programs, and therefore we are one of a few states that doesn’t have a budget deficit problem at the moment. North Dakotans take care of themselves and help their neighbors that are in need. So why is it that we have elected left wing liberal, big government welfare people to represent us in Washington, DC??????
I would like to say…I think the Dem leadership in the Senate and House have hung their own people out to dry. They must have known that the bill they voted on during the night would be dead on arrival in the Senate. I believe that a monkey could beat Earl Pomeroy if he were running today. I think he is setting himself up for a lobbyist position.
