DORGAN CAMPAIGN: SO MUCH MONEY…SO LITTLE OF IT FROM ND
Of course, in this day and age—when trillions are spent at the drop of a hat by politicians—$4 million dollars may not seem like much. But here in North Dakota, it is; and one of those DC politicians, our own Senator Byron Dorgan, is on pace to shatter the “big money in politics” high-water mark that he and his fellow Democrats claim to loathe. And what for? So his big spending, high taxing, “government good, employers bad” legislative philosophy may continue. Hi friends, I’m Scott Hennen, Chairman of the Common Sense Club sounding off. In a minute, follow the gravy-train: the source of Senator Dorgan’s colossal campaign coffers, in today’s Common Sense Commentary!
You could be forgiven for having missed this. Because, as expected from the worn out old media in North Dakota, they pretty much ignored it or buried it. But Byron Dorgan is raising big bucks, and he doesn’t even have an opponent yet. But here is the real story: all that money and so very little of it from the great state of North Dakota. In fact Only 23 North Dakotans have felt Byron Dorgan is worthy of a $250 or more donation this year – the rest is from out of state special interests – Big Labor Bosses, Rich Trial Lawyers, Environmental Extremists, Wall Street, Washington Lobbyists, and a few shady characters like the Texas kook Ben Barnes, Dan Rather pal, famous for his role in the forged records claiming FALSELY that President Bush didn’t serve honorably in the Texas National Guard. Whose next to turn up on this list Cyndi Sheehan? But seriously, only 23 North Dakotans…the people he actually serves? How is that not a front page expose in every newspaper in the state? Sorry…for a second I forgot they only report on the press releases their spoon fed from the DC Democrats…not the news you should know. To be sure, it’s no crime to raise money…but that much? Almost 90% from out of state? What are they expecting in return?
Obviously he has plenty to worry about….plummeting poll numbers and a growing disdain for the Obama administration and democratic leaders in congress. He even admitted this past summer that he had never witnessed a political environment in North Dakota like this—ever—in his long career. As in all 42 years of his time as a politician! He’s had 3 decades in dc and he wants more. We sincerely applaud his public service. What a trooper. After all he’d be 74 at the end of this next term…he clearly could leave the Senate and join his spouse as a big money lobbyist or enjoy his golden years after a long and distinguished career…most of which was spent far left to the ND electorate. That is no easy accomplishment. He is one darn good politician. Those flannel shirts and walks through the wheat fields have served him well when he makes it back to North Dakota from the comfy confines of his suburban DC $1 million plus estate.
Ask yourself, does this pass the smell test?

I would like to say…term limits are in order for all congressmen and senators
I would like to say…it has baffled me for years why North Dakotans keep electing this guy. I’m just hoping and hoping and hoping that just maybe enough North Dakotans are waking up to what this guy is, that after this next election he will no longer represent the great state of ND. I guarantee you though that he will not be moving back to ND and taking it easy or truly helping anybody in ND, but he will continue his corrupt ways in Washington, DC
